Robin McKann is a self taught master woodworker and furniture designer. His desire to work with his hands as a young man led to a lifelong love affair with all things wood. His deep respect and love for the beauty inherent in nature is apparent in creations that blend beauty with functionality. Attention to fine hand carved detail is a hallmark of a style and workmanship based on fluidity of line and an ability to "see" the wood. That combined with his desire to glorify the beauty he sees dictate the designs. He is also adept at collaborating with clients to create custom pieces that bring their own vision into form. Thirty years of experience working in all aspects of home construction evolved into a successful cabinet shop business in the highly specialized southern California market. The majority of his finish work and furniture graces homes in Malibu, Brentwood, Beverly Hills, California, and Washington; and includes wardrobes, beds, dining tables, end tables, entertainment centers, buffets, china cabinets, tea cabinets, etc. Today Robin lives and works surrounded by the woods of the Pacific Northwest and primarily uses sustainably harvested wood from local forests. If exotic wood is requested by a client, then every effort is made to find a sustainable source or comparable alternative. His design work has been inspired by James Krenov, Sam Maloof, Greene and Greene, Antonion Gandi, J. Perry, William Dale Branthey and nature.
Robin McKann also produces and sells FSC certified lumber from Windfall forest.
